✨ Map

Map your system and identify the problem you want to solve

Overview

Often the most important part of a simulation project is the problem definition (what is the purpose of the model?) and the mapping of the system being modelled. System mapping is a chance to build a shared understanding with your team and stakeholders. It should be collaborative and iterative β€” you may need to revisit your map as you learn more about the system and the problem you’re trying to solve.

In this session, you’ll learn the types of questions that simulation can help answer, and how to map a process or pathway.

🎯 Learning objectives

By the end of this session, you should be able to:

  • Understand what simulation is and how it can be applied
  • Write a clear problem statement
  • Understand how to map a system and identify the key components and relationships

πŸ“– Before the session

Please complete the pre-learning materials (tbc). These typically take 60 – 90 minutes and are essential for getting the most out of the session.
