Some examples of the kinds of people that might come on the accelerator, and what they might learn

Abigail Analyst

Abigail Analyst is a new analyst in an ICB, with a lot of enthusiasm and some experience of working with data
They answer questions with data as part of their day-to-day work, and have a good understanding of the data available to them
They are embedded in a team that works closely with operational colleagues and decision makers
They are often asked to answer questions about the performance of services
They are interested in learning about using simulation to inform service improvement and decision making
They have some experience of R and Python, but haven’t necessarily used them for modelling or simulation before

Matthew Modeller is new to healthcare analytics, but has a lot of experience of modelling in other sectors
They have a lot of experience of using R and Python for modelling and want to extend their skillset to include simulation
They are comfortable with statistical modelling and have a good understanding of the principles of simulation
They are interested in learning about how to apply simulation to healthcare contexts, and how to communicate their findings to decision makers
They have heard about simulation at an analyst huddle and have an interest in creating open source simulation models that can be used by others within and beyond their own ICB
