Prerequisites & expectations
β What you need to know
You should be comfortable with the basics of R or Python:
- Writing simple functions
- Working with variables
- Using packages/libraries (installing and importing)
π¬ During the sessions
As the RAP Accelerator is run in a flipped classroom style, the sessions are highly engaging β donβt expect to just sit back and watch! To get the most out of the programme, hereβs what we ask of you:
- Complete the pre-work: 60β90 minutes before each session. Essential, not optional.
- Camera on: weβll work in small groups, and we learn best when we can see each other.
- Engage actively: ask questions, work through examples, share what youβre learning.
- Bring a real project: the capstone project applies what youβve learnt to something that matters to you.
π§βπ« Need a quick refresher?
If you want to take part in the RAP accelerator but donβt yet meet the prerequisites, there is a chance for you to upskill before October.
The NHS Open Analytics community is running an Introduction to R and RStudio course in September. Attending this will ensure you meet the prerequisites. You can sign up online. On the sign-up form, please write that you heard about the workshop through SCIC.
